Restorative Justice
Practice: I co-mediate with restorative justice pioneer, Marty Price, through Healers of Conflicts Law & Conflict Resolution Center..
Community: I've been involved as a community volunteer in restorative justice for several years. As a (then) board member of the Friends Committee on Restorative Justice, I spearheaded the 2003 Restorative Justice Week and was a speaker at the flagship event. More recently, I am one of the co-founders of the Restorative Justice Resource Center located in Asheville, North Carolina.
Training & Consulting: I am the Associate Director of the Victim Offender Reconciliation Information & Resource Center (VORP). Marty Price is the Director. Our mission is to bring restorative justice reform to the juvenile and criminal justice systems, to empower victims, offenders and communities to heal the effects of crime, to reduce repeat crime and to offer a more effective and humanistic alternative to the growing outcry for more prisons and more punishment. We serve non-profit organizations, government agencies and individuals. The Center provides:
-Training for Juvenile Justice and Criminal Justice Programs
-Consulting and Technical Assistance
-Mediation in crimes of severe violence, including drunk driving deaths and other homicides
-Articles, literature and video resources
-An information service on the World Wide Web
